I Promised (Townsend's Solitaire)
Remember a while back I said that I would try to get some flight shots of a Townsend's solitaire? Well, here they are. Taken at a totally different venue this time. Not on the mountain side but near the water at Nanaimo River Estuary.

Little Mountain Townsend's Solitaire
Lots of Townsend's solitaires hawking bugs up on Little Mountain yesterday. Similar to mountain bluebirds but mostly grey and brown.

When ever I see these guys it makes me think of a Mountain Bluebird but in a grey form. They are similar and are also considered a type of thrush.
Nature's Studio (Townsend's Solitaire)
Spent the morning on Little Mountain today. Some almost "studio style" photo opportunities to be had there if the timing is right. This image is a lot closer than the last solitaire image. About 20 feet instead of 200 feet. ( Hand held again at 840mm equivalent.)
Little Mountain Townsend's Solitaire
Here is a large crop of a Townsend's Solitaire taken from a couple of hundred feet away .Think of them as a grey bluebird with a white eye ring. They usually show up around the same time as the mountain bluebirds and like the bluebirds they are only here for a short while as they stop to eat before they migrate through.
Spring Arrival (Townsend's Solitaire)
Nice to see the Townsend's solitaires back on Little Mountain again. Thought it might be a mountain bluebird at first but got fooled. Quite a crop on this one. Taken at 1200mm with the 2X converter. Didn`t turn out too bad.
