Down By The River (I shot my meadow lark)
Took this image of a western meadow lark near the edge of the Nanaimo River. I like the somewhat less chaotic background on this one.

Getting Closer
It took about an hour but I got so that I could get within about forty feet of the western meadow larks today. Left click for more detail.

Meadow Lark Jamboree
Tons of western meadow larks singing at the estuary today. They were all chasing one another and acting twitter pated as if spring had started early.

Ultra Telephoto
The estuary meadow larks were still playing hard to get today so I had to resort to ultra telephoto. Used the 2X teleconverter for an effective focal length of 1200mm.

Estuary Meadow Lark - Gliding
I was unsure which image I should post so I uploaded both. Hope you like them.

Estuary Meadow Lark - Wings Down
These guys can be hard to get close to and catch in flight. Had to settle for a bit of a crop on this one. Hard to catch even at 1/2000sec.
